Appointments
Before requesting an appointment with one of our clinicians, it may be worth looking at our self-referrals page to check if a surgery appointment is needed for the service you require.
How To Request An Appointment
Appointments can be made via:
- Visiting our Consulting Room
- Booking an appointment via Patient Access (If you would like to register for this free service please complete our Register for Online Services form)
- Calling the practice on 01384 273275
Here at Summerhill Surgery, we endeavor to offer you an appointment with a Health Care professional within 24 hours and a GP within 48 hours.
If you wish to see a specific GP on a particular day, you may have to wait longer than 48 hours. Our reception staff can advise you.
Routine Appointments
If you need to book a routine follow-up appointment with a particular GP you can make an appointment up to 6 weeks in advance either by telephone or through Patient Access.
Please phone after 10:30 to avoid busy times. Many routine appointments are for patients who have a long-term or chronic condition that needs monitoring on a regular basis. We will let you know when your next appointment is due with the practice nurse or doctor either by post or telephone.
If this time is not convenient, please telephone reception to re-arrange it. It is important to continue your regular check-ups, even if you are feeling well.
Routine appointments are available during normal surgery hours with the practice nurse and/or doctor. We hold regular clinics for asthma, diabetes, COPD and heart disease.
Cancelling Appointments
If for any reason you are unable to keep your appointment or no longer need it, please let us know as soon as possible via our Cancel an Appointment triage, so that it can be reallocated.
Please remember that there may be a shortage of appointments and when you fail to attend, you have prevented someone else from being seen in your place.
